This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Notice the progression in this verse... First we keep God's word in our mouth and meditate on it consistently, then we take action on what we have been meditating on, which will cause us to prosper and be successful.
In the original Hebrew language of this verse the word for prosperous is very interesting. It can be translated as rush, push forward, breakthrough, or prosper. It is the same Hebrew word that is used when Samuel told Saul that the Spirit would "rush," upon him.

One of the themes all throughout the Bible is that God continually gets his people out of troubled situations, and Jesus said that we would have trouble in this world, but to be of good cheer, because he has overcome the world.
Proverbs 11:8 says, "The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead.
Proverbs 12:13 says, "An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble."
The word for "trouble," in the Hebrew can mean distress, anguish, tribulation, and affliction.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for God's faithfulness to protect us, love protects. And we are asking God to help us escape any trouble, distress, anguish, tribulation, or affliction we experience.

One of the subtitles in Hebrews 6 is "The Certainty of God's Promise."
Hebrews 6:17 says," So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath."
Then it goes on to say that it's impossible for God to lie, and because of that we can hold fast to his promises, because they are certain.
But, to enter into His promises takes faith and trust in his unchangeable character.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the certainty of God's promise, and we are asking him to help us hold fast to his promises.

Recently we looked at Ecclesiastes 9:10 which says, "whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
There is a connection between these 2 verses because some of the same Hebrew words are used.
And it is often in the balance of scriptures that we find the truth. I think what these scriptures are telling us is that we are do to everything to the best of our ability to glorify God, but the real results don't come from our strength, power, or ability, but from God's Spirit.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the connection of these scriptures and what he is trying to show us. And we are asking him to help us apply what we learn so that we get results by His Spirit.

2 Corinthians 11:3 says, "But I am afraid, lest by any means, as the serpent in his craftiness deceived Eve, your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity in Christ."
Notice in this verse that the enemy's tactic is to corrupt our minds away from the simplicity and purity we have in Christ. The context of this verse is about being devoted to God. The simplicity we have in Christ, is that we can simply walk in love and abide in Christ.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us guard our minds with his peace so that we walk in the simplicity and purity we have in Christ.

We are in the middle of the year, which is a reminder to trust. And when we trust it makes life much simpler, because when we trust we can rest. But we must trust on 3 levels... Trust God, trust ourselves and become trustworthy, and find people we can trust.
God gives us the ultimate example of being trustworthy... He always keeps his word/promises, has great intentions for us, knows what he is doing, and is always on time. We can learn to become more trustworthy and to trust ourselves by becoming more like God in these things.
And when we talk in trust is everything is much simpler.

Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
God can do immeasurably(abundantly) more than we ever ask, think, dream, or imagine and the method he uses to do this is His power being put to work within us.

The Hebrew word for might is "koach," which can also mean God's power. I think we have a role to play in putting God's power to work. He has given it to us, and when we put it to work, he does more than we could ever ask or imagine.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, and we are asking him to help us understand His power within us and how to put it to work.

Lately I have been thinking about what people really want out of life, myself included. I think we all want to feel like we are making progress, moving forward, and that all of the areas of life are working together harmoniously. There are so many different facets of life... purpose, connection, freedom, security, finances, health, nutrition, fitness, family, relationships, keeping things in order, etc.
To get all of these areas moving forward together can be quite the feat.
Romans 8:28 says that "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
God is the one who sustains all things by the power of his word, and he is the one who can help us juggle everything and get it all working together in a beautiful way.

Recently I was thinking about how busy and complicated life can get and God reminded me that it is community that simplifies life. Life isn't an individual sport but a team sport. We are meant to do life together in community, because it has the ability to simplify life and multiply our capabilities.
For a community to be functioning properly there must be diversity with different gifts and roles. And when people are functioning in their gifting we take the pressure off of one another, and set each other free. When we then use our freedom to multiply our abilities even more it creates a virtuous cycle.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the important role community plays and for him to help us get is right.

In 2 Samuel 7:3 after David finally becomes king and is sitting in his palace the prophet Nathan tells him, " Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you."
Recently we've talked about a few scriptures that are similar to this. When Samuel anointed Saul to be king he told him that whatever his hand found to do, to do it because God was with him. In Ecclesiastes 9:10 Solomon said that whatever our hand finds to do, to do it with all of our might. And the word for might could actually be translated as all of God's power.
David had it in mind to build a house for God, and if we read on in this chapter it tells us that God picked Solomon to build the temple, but David began to get everything ready. He prepared all of the materials, the workers, and the plans for the temple in advance for Solomon.
