Lately I have been thinking about how transformation often happens in the middle of things. I have been thinking of this in three parts or phases. For example, we are spirit, soul ( mind and emotions), and physical body and Romans 12:2 says we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. The transformation comes from the middle. In nutrition and exercise food is taken in, then it must be metabolized and converted into energy, and the result on the other side is work/action.
Imagine being at work and things are coming at you from every angle. It is your ability to process all of this information and turn it into the proper decisions and actions that determines much of your effectiveness in any work. Therefore, the ability to understand, process, and turn it into the correct actions is vital in many things. This three part pattern of inflow, processing and decision making, and outflow can be seen in almost every area of life. Consider money... it flows in, then it...
In Ezekiel 46:9 God told the people that when they came to the temple to worship they were to enter from one side and exit through the opposite side. They were not to leave the same way they came in, but in the straight or opposite direction. Think about nutrition and exercise.. Food goes into our bodies, but then it gets metabolized or converted into energy, and comes out of the body in the form of work and action. It comes out differently than it went in.
It is the conversion in the middle where the miracles happen and I believe it is the same with God. Jesus said if we would see with our eyes, hear with our ears (this is input), then understand with our hearts and turn(this is where the conversion happens), then the action or result on the other side would be healing.. and in Deuteronomy it says that prosperity also comes after turning to the Lord.

Today we start the 40 Days of Teshuva, which means to turn or repent. These are the 40 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement (Sept 15-16). During this time of year there is a big emphasis put on taking action on anything you know to do. These are 40 days to start getting ahead of things that are coming. These could be opportunities or potential problems to start preparing for. Sometimes problems can be turned into great opportunities if you are prepared. Proverbs 22:3 and 27:12 both say that a prudent man looks ahead and sees danger coming and takes refuge, while a fool sees danger coming and still keep going.
When my wife had our second daughter she had an epidural but it was put in late and she still experienced some pain and a lot of pressure. When we were preparing for our third daughter to be born she asked the doctor about this, and his response was..."We didn't get ahead of it."

In Exodus 40 it says that after Moses and the people had prepared everything for the tabernacle that God's glory came and filled the tabernacle. There was always a cloud above the tabernacle and by night it was a cloud of fire. When the cloud lifted it was the signal for the people to move and the cloud would lead them to their next destination. When the cloud settled it was the signal for the people to wait at that place.
Numbers chapter 9 also tells this story and it says that sometimes the cloud would remain where it was overnight, but other times it would remain for 2 days, a month, or even a year. During this process God was teaching them to obey his leading and timing. Part of our walk with God is learning to following his leading and timing as well. Today, God is just as faithful to lead us in this way, we just may not have a visible glory cloud floating over us all the time. Now, he leads us from the inside. August 8th starts what is called the 40 Days of Teshuva. These are the 40 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement(Sept 15-16). In the Jewish culture the Day of Atonement was consider the holiest day of the year because it was the one day of the year when the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies and make atonement for the sins of the people for the year. During these 40 days there was a huge emphasis put on taking action and getting everything righted before the Day of Atonement, which was considered the closing of the year.
We can live this way all the time, but we have a built in reminder every year just in case we get off track. During the next 40 days is a time to take action. What are the things that have been piling up on the inside? What things do you know to do but haven't done yet? In the world of business or real estate a contract is considered ratified once it is confirmed and approved by both sides signing off on the agreement. To be ratified means that it is fully enforce and from that point on it must be changed by writing an amendment to the contract or writing a contract that overrides the previous one. The new covenant has been ratified in the blood of Jesus and it overrides the old covenant law, it supersedes the law.

Part of our daily Prayer Challenge is Ephesians 1:22 which says... And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
God made Jesus to be the head of all things and put all things under his feet, which is also stated in 1 Corinthians 15:25-28...For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
When we are born of God and keep his commandments we have victory and overcome the world. He always causes us to triumph and gives us the victory in Christ. Jesus said that we would have trouble in this life but to be of good cheer because he has overcome the world. These promises are for those that are born of him and keep his commands, which are not burdensome. But, what are his commands?

For some people it might be the history channel because they keep replaying bad things from the past. For some people it might be the weather channel because they keep looking at the upcoming storms. For some people it might be medical shows because they keep thinking about all that is wrong with them. For some people it may be dramas, because they keep meditating on the ways people have wronged them. Many of these shows are playing on repeat over and over.
