Moving Boundary Stones

Uncategorized Jan 20, 2024

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

Lately we've been talking about boundaries, order, and rest.

While thinking about the connection between these topics Proverbs 22:28 came to mind.

It says, "Do not move the ancient boundary stone that your fathers have set."

In the promised land it was boundary stones that marked out the people's inheritance. In a similar way for us, we have some boundary stones around our inheritance in Christ. I think one of those ancient boundaries is taking a day to rest. God established this in the very beginning of the Bible when he modeled it for us.

In today's communion we are asking God to teach us about the ancient boundary stones he has set for us.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

We need boundaries in our health and fitness. Spend some time seeking God on what boundaries he would want you to set for your health and fitness.

I am praying for you.

Call the Sabbath a Delight

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

Lately God's been teaching me about the importance of resting and the gift he's given us in the Sabbath.

Isaiah 58:13-14 says, "If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words, 14then you will delight yourself in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the land and feed you with the heritage of your father Jacob."

Notice the connection in this verse... If we delight in the Sabbath we delight in the Lord. And when we delight ourselves in the Lord he gives us the desires of our heart(Psalm 37:4).

In today's communion we are asking God to teach us to delight in the Sabbath the way he desires.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

What kind of movement do you delight in? Maybe it's going for a walk ...

God Was Refreshed

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

Lately God's been teaching me about the importance of resting and the gift he's given us in the Sabbath.

In Exodus 31:16:17 it says, "The Israelites must keep the Sabbath, celebrating it as a permanent covenant for the generations to come. 17 It is a sign between Me and the Israelites forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’”

Think about this for a moment... Even God was refreshed when he rested.

If it refreshed God, then we can imitate him as his children and get refreshed ourselves when we rest.

Something I am learning is that when the balance of work and rest isn't maintained it makes you less productive because to be highly productive you must be refreshed.

In today's communion we are asking God to teach us about rest and how to be refreshed like he was from our rest.

A Real Rest

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

Something God's been teaching me this year is the importance of rest and taking a day off once per week. Even God rested after his work. Resting makes your work so much more effective and efficient.

While thinking about this Matthew 11:28-30 MSG came to mind.

"“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

In today's communion we are asking God to show us how to take a real rest and to teach us how he works as we walk with him.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Something I've started doing is taking one day off per week of my normal workouts. On that day I walk, do some very light stretching, and when possi...

Maintaining

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

It seems like every year around this time of the year God reminds me that he's not looking for us to maintain where we are... He's looking for growth and multiplication.

In the parable of the talents, the guy that only maintained the talent that was given to him had it taken away and given to the guy who grew his.

In today's communion we are asking God to help us be amazing stewards that grow and multiply all that he's entrusted to us.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Through the years of working in the gym I've seen a lot of people who have a goal to maintain where they are, but it is usually a sure fire wire to go the wrong direction. Setting a new or bigger goal is a better way.

I am praying for you.

Strive for Full Restoration

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

2 Corinthians 13:11 says, " Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you."

I like the phrase, "strive for full restoration." This can be translated as completeness, perfection, or bring into proper condition.

In today's communion we are asking God to help us strive or aim for full restoration the way he desires.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Our bodies have an amazing ability to be restored to health, and one of the best things we can do for this is create the environment or culture that allows the body to be restored, and our emotional environment is one of the biggest keys to this.

I am praying for you.

Order Leads to Clarity

Uncategorized Jan 14, 2024

Listen to the Podcast

Hey everyone!

Here is this week's Yearly Cycle update.

We are in a time of the year when it is important to have clarity and develop a more efficient strategy.

An important principle to remember is that order always leads to clarity.

Several years ago, one of my gym clients was a scientist who had done a lot of work with liquid crystals. When you think of liquid crystals, think of LCD displays on a phone or TV screen. These crystals have some amazing properties that allow us to see clear pictures on the screen.

Our bodies, as well as all organizations or communities, are actually forms of liquid crystals. Regular crystals are rocks that have a fixed order, but liquid crystals are a combination of liquid and solid that have the ability to adapt and create order.

When the crystals are ordered, they create a clear picture. When they are disordered, they become cloudy and do not produce a clear picture. We all need clarity in life, especially mental clarity, s...

The Cup in the Hand of the Lord

Uncategorized Jan 13, 2024

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

Recently I've come across some verses about the cup in the hand of the Lord. There are several scriptures that refer to the cup that is in God's hand.

Psalm 75:8 says, "For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed, and he pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs."

The cup in God's hand usually refers to the cup of his wrath. But when before Jesus went to the cross he prayed asking God "to let the cup pass from him."

He was willing to have the cup of God's wrath poured onto him so that we can have the cup of blessing and of participation in the New Covenant.

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that through the obedience of Jesus we are righteous, and that we can now have the cup of the New Covenant.

Boundaries & Authority

Uncategorized Jan 12, 2024

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

The other day I felt like God showed me that there is a connection between boundaries and authority. Think of a police man, governor, or president, they have authority within their jurisdiction or borders but once they are outside of their boundaries, they lose their authority.

We all need boundaries in every area of our lives and when we either don't have well defined boundaries or we cross them we lose our authority and power.

As an example, a boundary in our finances could be to set aside a certain amount of money every time we get paid. When we don't stay within that boundary, we can lose authority/power over our finances.

While seeking the Lord about this the fall of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3 came to mind.

When they crossed the boundary that God had set for them, they lost their authority and gave it to Satan.

But the good news is that Jesus got all the authority back.

Pleasant Boundaries

Uncategorized Jan 11, 2024

Listen to the Podcast

Good morning!

Here is today's communion meditation.

I think one of the most important areas of our walk with God is boundaries. Having boundaries in our spiritual life, purpose, health, family, finances, time, and especially our priorities.

Think of creating boundaries in your life as deciding on the main principles that you will operate by and making the commitment in your heart to them.

Boundaries can actually create freedom, because they keep us from having to make so many decisions. We can have freedom within boundaries.

But boundaries will be tested, and they must be defended.

Psalm 16:6 says, "The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places."

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God has given us pleasant boundaries in Christ, and we are asking him to help us set these boundaries and keep them.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Spend some time seeking God on boundaries for your health and fitness. What will be your boundaries for f...
