Ask for the Living Water

Here is today's communion meditation.

Yesterday we talked about Isaac redigging the wells that his father Abraham had dug. In Genesis 26:19 it says, "Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there."

In the original Hebrew of this verse, it says that Isaac found a well of "living water." 

We are in the Feast of Tabernacles and during this feast Jesus stood up and said that if anyone would believe in him, then rivers of living water would flow from within them. 

This all reminded me of the story of Jesus talking to the woman at the well. In John 4:10 he told her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

In today's communion we are asking Jesus for the living water.
